What is this licence?

This notice gives authorisation to construct a generation station, where the generation station exceeds 1 MW but is less than 10 MW.

Proposed generator stations with an installed capacity of less than or equal to 1MW are exempt.

There is a separate process for generator stations between 10-40 MW.

When do I need it?

You will need to send this notification before construction, reconstruction or generating from the generator station.

How to apply

If a proposed generating station has a capacity not exceeding 10 MW, you should complete the following form:

The construction will be authorised when you receive acknowledgement from the CRU that the correctly completed notification has been received. This is pursuant to SI 459 of 2022.

Fees

The application fee must be paid at the time of submission of the application/notification. Payment will only be accepted by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT). Fees can range between €35 and €100.

What if my application is rejected?

Where matters arise that have the potential to result in a refusal of an application, you will be informed at the earliest opportunity. This affords you the time to address the matter, where possible and appropriate, by submitting additional information.
