What is this licence?

An Authorisation to Construct or Reconstruct allows a person to construct or reconstruct a generating station greater than 10 MW.

If a proposed generating station has a capacity under 10 MW, see Notification of Intention to Construct or Reconstruct, and/or to Generate Electricity, from a Generation Station not exceeding 10 MW.

When do I need it?

You may need this during the pre-construction phase of your project.

How to apply

Pre-application meeting

CRU have a process for new applicants through a pre-submission process. New applicants are encouraged to contact the CRU via [email protected] to request a pre-submission meeting.

Making your application

You can obtain an application form from the CRU website at the links below. All documentation should be submitted electronically to [email protected].

Fees

There are application fees for different scales within the CRU. Find current fees on the CRU website.

What if my application is rejected?

If the CRU decides to refuse an authorisation application, you will be notified in writing. This will include reasons for the refusal and the appeals process.
