Geothermal Energy Exploration Licence (GEEL)

What is this licence?

Deep geothermal systems require a licence to explore a geothermal resource. A Geothermal Energy Exploration Licence gives you exclusivity for this exploration. This is within the defined area and for the time specified in the licence.

The objective of a GEEL is to determine whether or not a geothermal resource can provide enough energy to make the proposed geothermal energy project viable.

In Ireland, the details of this licence are to be confirmed pending forthcoming legislation.
