What is this licence?

A Section 39A Consent grants applicants the power to construct a gas pipeline within certain specifications. Details of this power are set out in Section 39A of the Gas Act, 1976, as amended by the Gas (Interim) (Regulation) Act, 2002.

Once the pipeline is constructed, applicants may also need to apply for consent to operate the pipeline. The CRU is undertaking a review of the gas pipeline consenting process as existing guidelines are out of date based on recent changes to legislation.

In the meantime, prospective applicants can contact [email protected] to receive guidance on a case-by-case basis.
