What is this licence?

This licence is required for all survey and monitoring of protected species (e.g., freshwater pearl mussel). It's needed even where animals will not be handled.

When do I need it?

Licences are required to investigate sites where protected species are found. It is only in exceptional cases that handling or movement of these animals is licenced. This is because the species is threatened and in poor condition.
